OLGA Success for SecureTrading Client
IMRG, the e-retail industry body, held their first annual Online Green Awards (“The OLGAs”) on Tuesday 24th July 2007 at the Kensington Roof Gardens, London. The awards were a new feature of the annual IMRG Go Green 24/7 day, and were given to encourage and reward companies, teams and individuals involved in e-retail who can demonstrate progress towards conservation of The Earth's resources and / or a reduction in their carbon footprint.
The Organic Delivery Company, a SecureTrading client, was the first company to win the Small Retailer of the Year Award (consumer voted). They were awarded for their contribution to the environment by supplying organic food that’s sourced as locally as possible, in season and affordable.
By supporting organic farming, The Organic Delivery company help both wildlife and the environment, causing lower pollution from sprays, producing less carbon dioxide and fewer dangerous wastes. The Organic Delivery Company also keep their vehicle emissions to a minimum by delivering in geographical order. Further information on the Organic Delivery Company can be found on their web site www.organicdelivery.co.uk.
SecureTrading also sponsored the Large Retailer Award, which was judged by an independent IMRG selected panel. The winner of the award was Marks and Spencer for their Plan A initiative, which is a 100 point plan to make their stores carbon neutral, reduce their waste, use sustainable raw materials, be a fair trade partner and improve their healthy eating ranges. SecureTrading is looking forward to supporting the 2008 OLGAs– the event will again be held on 24th July.
