The value of Internet sales rose by 56 per cent between 2004 and 2005, from £66.2bn to £103.3bn, while the proportion of businesses selling on-line rose by 22 per cent from 12 per cent of businesses to 14.6 per cent of businesses (Office of National Statistics, 2007).
